LAPO Agricultural and Rural Development Initiative(LARDI) was established in May 2007. With the support of LARDI, rural farmers are now investing increasingly in agriculture. At the inception of the organisation in May 2007, the sum of N11.2 million was disbursed to 77 female farmers to enable them scale up their farms.

In 2006, LAPO won the Grameen Foundation Award for Excellence in Microfinance; the award worth $10,000 U.S dollars was invested in an endowment for Scholarship Scheme to LAPO Clients’ Children. The purpose of the Scholarship Scheme was to see to a good and sound education for LAPO women’s children of secondary school age. From 2007 to 2009 a total of 130 students have benefited from the scheme with a total disbursement of N6.7million.
