134 Students Benefit from LAPO Scholarship Scheme

LAPO MfB has reaffirmed its commitment to improving lives as it awards Scholarships to 134 qualified clients’ children thus bringing the total figure of beneficiaries to 3,134 since inception.

Since 2007, about 3, 134 beneficiaries have so far accessed the LAPO Scholarship Funds in the various categories. Beneficiaries of the awards are drawn from all areas of operations of LAPO Microfinance Bank through a Ballot exercise.

The Skills Acquisition Scheme was set up to empower Clients’ children who desire to acquire vocational skills. Since its inception, the LAPO Skills Acquisition Scheme has trained 521 teenagers in skills such as Tailoring, Catering etc. This year, 124 beneficiaries of the Jan-June batch graduated from the scheme at the Award Ceremony.

The event which was held in Benin had in attendance representatives of the Edo State Commissioner of Education, Partners for Development, The Registrar, National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) as well as parents and beneficiaries.
